Switching to freelancing

I've finally decided to do what I wanted for quite a while lately, which is to work as a freelancer.

The reasons for which I decided to make this step are not that many, but one of the most important one is the fact that I want to be in control of my time, and not be constrained to a fixed work schedule. And of course, I'd lie if I said that the money wasn't on the reasons list.

I am a bit frightened of what lies in front of me for the future, but I decided I have to assume this risk. Of course, the risk is not that much of a risk when you have some solid background and experience in the field of work. And I am sure I do have quite a solid background at this moment, judging by the list of web sites I worked on. I'm not saying that all those sites are great (some are from the early years), but they've helped me learn and get very good at building web sites and applications.

On the other hand, there won't be that safety net there, that no matter what happened with the company where you work you'd eventually get a salary at the end of the month. But that shouldn't scare me, as I am confident in my skills.

I understand there are a lot of people that choose to go freelance in the IT section at least. And although so many people do freelance work, still there is demand for work, which says something about this field of work. One example is Cameron, who almost a year and half ago became a freelancer. He gave some advice and tips he learned on his own about freelance work.

Another idea I heard about freelancing is that it's a limited "job", financially speaking. Because a person can only work until a certain point, the money earned will also have a limit. And I agree with this point. I do not intend to grow old and still do freelancing, but for the present and near future it's my best option.

At the moment, I've already started working on a project, one that's actually a pretty cool one. I'll be talking more about it after it will launch, in a couple of months or so.

So with all this said, please, wish me luck! And remember to contact me for any programming related projects

Great choice, Valentin.
I want to make this decision too, but my friends and the people around me disagree.
Asking me: 'What about you're pension and insecurities?' Calculate this inconfidences in with the money you earn more.
Lots of success!! I'll keep you in mind!
